How to Distinguish Good and Bad Wires and Cables
 
Wires and cables can be identified from the following aspects
 
1) Copper Material: High-quality cables use high purity oxygen-free copper. The copper core is bright in color and the surface of poor copper wire is dim.
2) Plastics: Plastics use high-quality original plastics, good bending performance, bending cable will not produce texture, poor recycled plastics
     will appear obvious texture after bending several times, after bending many times, there will be fracture.
3) Full Formula: Copper is a precious metal. If the diameter of copper is lost a little, it can reduce the cost of raw materials. In this case,
     it is necessary to measure the diameter of copper wire with micrometer. If there is no micrometer,
     then the simpler way is to weigh the whole volume of wire to see if it is much lighter than a high-quality cable.
     Or you can refer to the nominal weight given by the factory. The nominal weight given by some factories is too low to guarantee the quality of products.
4) Foot meter: It may be more difficult to detect the number of meters, because customers generally do not have the equipment to actually measure the number of meters,
     the same use of weight measurement method can be used to know whether the cable is full meter. Or it's a good way to print rice labels in factories, but it's important to note that lines less than 5 mm in diameter can't print rice labels.
5) Supplementary materials: In order to ensure the roundness of the cable, fillers will be added to the core of the multi-core cable, and the thickness of the sheath is thicker. If the cable is not round enough,
     it means that the fillers are added very little, and the sheath is thin.
6) Bundle wire: Multiple strands of copper wire will be bundled during production to improve the tensile properties, roundness,
     electrical properties and tightness of the copper core, but because the bundle wire will increase the use of copper, many factories omitted this step. The way to distinguish is to open the core wire of the cable and see if the copper wire inside is regularly twisted together.
6) Braiding: The braided layer accounts for a large part of the cost of cable raw materials.
    The coverage of braided layer directly affects the electrical performance of cable. At the same time, the compact braided layer can increase the strength of cable and reduce the decline of electrical performance of cable in bending state.
    Therefore, it is an important means to distinguish the good cable from the bad one to see whether the braided layer has high coverage rate and the braided layer is uniform and fine.
7) Foaming: Some cables need to foam the insulation layer to enhance their electrical performance. Foaming mainly includes chemical foaming and physical foaming.
    Chemistry does not require special production equipment, so the price is low, but the size of the bubbles produced is different, and the electrical performance is poor.
    Physical foaming requires expensive production equipment, but the bubbles produced by physical foaming are uniform and compact, with small attenuation in bending state and good electrical performance.
    The cable core can be cut open to observe whether the foaming layer is uniform and compact.
 
2. The importance of foot-rice and foot-formula:
The high cost of raw materials for cables, coupled with excessive competition in the domestic market, has led many manufacturers to make use of raw materials for cables, but this may lead to very serious consequences.
1) If the copper wire is thin, the conductor resistance will increase, heat will be generated, heat will be generated, and even fire will be caused.
2) Poor use of insulating cable material will lead to poor heat resistance, premature aging, and if it is soft wire, it will also lead to multiple bending and rupture, resulting in electric shock hazard.
3) Too thin sheath will lead to a decline in durability. Cables generally need to be used for more than 10 years.
4) Jerry work in other processes will lead to a serious decrease in the transmission bandwidth and distance of the signal line.
